Born in Genoa (Italy) in 1966. He works at the European Commission since 1995. He is responsible for the Media Literacy initiative and the Media Programme Pilot Projects within the DG Information Society and Media. He spent almost all his professional life in the media or dealing with media related issues both in the private sector (Super Channel ltd.) and at the European Commission where he has been working for more than 12 years on different policy aspects of the audio-visual media. He holds a degree in Economics of the University of Genoa.

After spending 25 years working in the field of ICT and education in Australia, Albin was employed for 3 years as ICT and Learning Technologies Manager of the South East England Virtual Education Action. With a firm belief that teachers are the key to achieving sustained ecological change in schools, he coordinated ICT professional development within SEEVEAZ. Since May 2003 he has been Group ICT Director for the United Church Schools Trust and the United Learning Trust before becoming their Director of Educational Development and Technologies in 2008. Albin is a Fellow of the British Computer Society, the Institute for IT Training, NAACE and the Institute of Directors. He has a doctorate in education from the University of Sheffield where his thesis was on the formal and informal uses of the internet for learning. He has spoken at a number of international conferences on education and ICT.

Sheffield Media and Exhibtion Centre is a business situated within the Creative Industries Quarter in Sheffield.
It has managed creative workspace primarily for start up creative industries plus conferencing and bar facilities which help support the Independent Cinema which has 4 screens and an education space.
The cinema is a charity and our core mission is to target and develop audiences for world cinema.I was a primary school teacher in Sheffield for over 20 years then had had a period where I re-trained in computer studies; orgnaised a film festival in my local town, started a Film Club, made films with children and became part of the cinema committee at the Penistone Paramount Cinema in Penistone.
I applied for my present post and was successful in 2002 and have been in post since.
I have written articles and resources for the British Film Institute, the British Federation of Film Societies and a private publicaiotn on how to use film in the classroom. -

United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (AoC). The AoC seeks to reduce tensions across cultural divides that threaten to inflame existing political conflicts or trigger new ones. Working with its global network of government partners, the AoC promotes policies and initiatives aimed at improving relations between diverse cultural groups. It also works at the grassroots level in society, promoting innovative projects that build trust, reconciliation and mutual respect among diverse communities. The AoC works in four program areas to support such projects. These areas are: youth, media, education, and migration. Media Literacy is a main media-education-youth area of work of the AoC.
Jordi Torrent
After obtaining a degree in Philosophy at the University of Barcelona, Jordi followed graduate studies in Paris at the Sorbonne University (Film Esthetics) and at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (Anthropology Filmmaking).
From 1990 to 2006 he was a Media Consultant for the Department of Education of New York City. There he created a Media Literacy Education program that was implemented at over twenty five NYC schools, as well as conducted media education workshops for educators and parents. Jordi was co-director of Media: Overseas Conversations, a series of annual conferences on media, youth and education held in NYC from 2004 to 2008. In addition, he has produced, written and directed feature films, documentaries, and TV commercials.
Currently he is Project Manager of Media Literacy Education initiatives of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and teaches a graduate course on International Media and Cinema at Fordham University, New York.
